Alpine Gray – Publication of new Comprehensive Index for Dual Aptitude (ICDA).

As part of the Dual Breeding project, a new Overall index the dual aptitude (ICDA). Through the new ICDA, it is intended to properly enhance the dual aptitude in the Grigio Alpina breed by essentially decreasing the selection pressure on milk production in favor of meat production. At the same time, additional morpho-functional traits concerning both animal health and breed typicality traits were introduced.

The ICDA is published along with a brief descriptive report in the section Services – PSRN 10.2 Breeding Values. and the data can be accessed for all licensed sires with index accuracy of at least 80%. The indexes of Alpine Grey bulls from the current FA campaign can also be found in the section Services – FA bull data. The breeding values of females are published directly in the mating plans and are made available to breeders through restricted access in thelogin area.
