Objectives and selection program - Alpine Gray
SELECTION GOALS
The selection goals for the Grey Alpine Breed aim to enhance its production of milk and meat in terms of both quality and quantity. Additionally, the objective is to preserve all the morpho-functional characteristics that define the breed: medium size, robust constitution, sound locomotor apparatus with hard hooves, rusticity, grazing ability, fertility, ease of birth, and ease of milking.

Selection Programme
The Grey Alpine is being improved as a pure breed. The selection schedule follows the classic model for breeds with dual production aptitudes. The goal is to produce new generations of bulls selected from the offspring of the best cows and bulls, subsequently evaluating them for their aptitude in both meat production (performance test) and milk production (progeny test). The selection activities utilize modern techniques for processing production data.
